Bhubaneswar: At least 10 people from Odisha were allegedly detained upon their arrival in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday morning.
A few of the detainees took to social media to inform about their ordeal.
Akhil Agrawal, a netizen of Bhubaneswar shared pictures of the passports of the stranded people at the Bangkok airport.
In his post on Twitter, he claimed that authorities have given vague reasons for their detention — such as passengers are “not carrying shorts and backpacks”. He said the detainees had gone to Thailand as tourists.
They had reportedly boarded a flight from Kolkata last night.
A media report claimed that the 10 are among 50 Indians who have been detained; the reason remains unclear.
There has been no reaction from the External Affairs Ministry so far, even as the stranded people have tagged the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and MPs from Odisha to end their ordeal.
