Rishikesh: At least 10 people were killed and nine injured in a bus accident near Suryadhar in Uttarakhand on Thursday morning.
An Uttarakhand Transport Corporation bus, carrying 25 passengers, skidded off the Rishikesh Gangotri highway into a 250-metre deep gorge, ANI has reported.
The Uttarakhand government has directed that helicopters be made available to airlift the injured to AIIMS in Rishikesh.
The government has also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of those killed and Rs 50,000 each for the injured.
Search and rescue operations are underway and a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
Getting information, local administration, police teams, fire department from Tehri and Disaster Response Team from Chamba have rushed to the spot.
