Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 10 COVID-19 deaths for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, which pushed the toll to 2017.
According to the Health Department, Puri and Rayagada have reported three fatalities each, one each from Ganjam, Khurda, Sundargarh and Boudh.
The deceased have been identified as:
1. A 42-year-old man of Boudh district.
2. A 66-year-old man of Ganjam district.
3. A 35-year-old man of Khurda district.
4. An 80-year-old man of Puri district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
5. A 55-year-old woman of Puri district.
6. A 55-year-old man of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
7. A 55-year-old man of Rayagada district.
8. A 47-year-old man of Rayagada district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
9. A 57-year-old man of Rayagada district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
10. A 67-year-old man of Sundargarh district.
The state also saw a big spike of 8386 new COVID-19 cases, up by 38 per cent, in the last 24 hours. Tuesday had seen 6073 new positives.
The test positivity rate has mounted to 19.77 with the new infections being detected from 42401 samples sent for tests.
Khurda reported the highest of 1840, followed by Sundargarh (933), Cuttack (496), Jharsuguda (433), Nabarangpur (388), Balangir (358), Angul (347), Sambalpur (307), Mayurbhanj (289), Jajpur (270) and Puri (259).
