10 Shops In Bhubaneswar Penalised For Littering In Public Places

Bhubaneswar: The enforcement squad of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday imposed penalty on 10 shop-keepers in the city for littering in public places.

The squad visited the Unit II Market Building During business hour on the day and found the shops and other entities not following the thumb rule of keeping dust bins in their units. Ten such defaulters were fined Rs 7,700 for their irresponsible behaviour of littering, according to a release.

The squad members apprised the business units of the benefits of sanitary practices and also warned them of punishments like closure of shops on repeated violations of the practice.

In order to enforce the practice, the BMC had made announcement on keeping double dust bin by the vendors around AG and Rajmahal areas two days back.
