Nayagarh: In a tragic road mishap, a 10-year-old boy was killed while his mother and elder brother sustained critical injuries after being hit by a speeding car in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Shubhankar Nayak (10), while the injured are Jyotsnarani Nayak and her elder son Subham Nayak. The woman and her elder son were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Sources said the accident occurred at Kulurukumpa Chhak under Banigochha police limits in Daspalla block, when the car hit the trio. The woman was en route to her farm land with her two minor sons, when mishap took place.
Locals rescued the victims from a pool of blood and rushed the injured to the hospital. They also stopped the car and staged a road blockade for some time.
On being intimated by the eyewitnesses, Banigochha police rushed to the spot and detained the car driver.
This mishap follows another similar incident in Kalahandi district on Sunday, when a child was mulled by a hyva truck and the locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation for the bereaved family.
As per information, the mishap occurred at Dahagaon village under Koksara block, when the father-son duo travelling on a motorcycle was hit by a hyva truck. While the son died on the spot, the father with serious injuries was shifted to hospital,. Demanding compensation the bereaved family members and locals staged a road blockade.
