Balasore: Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy has directed the Balasore district administration to set up a 100-bed COVID Hospital on the premises of the district headquarters hospital.
The new hospital will have ICU and OT for COVID-19 patients, sources said.
Tripathy gave the directive after a visit to Balasore to review COVID-19 management in the district on Friday.
“So far, the COVID-19 management in the district has been satisfactory. The mortality rate is within 0.3 per cent, which is lower than many other districts,” he said.
The chief secretary informed that funds for the new hospital hospital would be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Besides, four new ICUs will also be set up at the existing Jyoti COVID Hospital in Balasore.
Tripathy also directed the admi nistration to provide 24×7 ambulance services.
He has also directed proper arrangements for communicating the result of COVID-19 test to the respective individual over the phone.
