100 Companies Switch To Four-Day Work Week With No Pay Cut

New Delhi: Hundred companies, which employ around 2,600 staff, in the United Kingdom have signed up for a permanent four-day working week for all employees without any pay cut.

Among them are the two biggest firms – Atom Bank and global marketing company Awin – each having around 450 employees in the UK.

According to The Guardian, the advocates of the four-day week campaign argue that it would drive companies to improve their productivity, meaning they can create the same output using fewer hours. “It was one of the most transformative initiatives we’ve seen in the history of the campaign. Over the course of the last year and a half, we have not only seen a tremendous increase in employee wellness and wellbeing but concurrently, our customer service and relations, as well as talent relations and retention also have benefited,” Awin’schief executive Adam Ross was quoted as saying.

The ‘4 Day Week Campaign’ in the UK is also coordinating a pilot scheme which involves about 70 companies, to shift to the four-day week in a trial with researchers at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford, Boston College and think-tank Autonomy.
