Balasore: More than 100 Odia migrant workers from Hyderabad reached Remuna in Balasore district on Monday. The covered most of the distance on foot.
Belonging to Keshudiha panchayat under Basta block, the labourers were working at a granite factory in Begumpet area of Hyderabad. After the factory was closed due to lockdown, they stayed there for some time spending from their saving.
As their saving was almost exhausted about seven days back, they started walking to come home in the absence of train and bus services. They crossed different border points with the help of vehicles and reached Remuna where some social workers came across them.
On being informed about the migrants by the social workers, police and Remuna Tahsildar Charles Nayak reached the spot. After discussing with Basta Tehsildar Karthik Das, the officials sent the workers to Basta.
Later, they underwent medical examination and kept in panchayat quarantine Center.
