Balasore: The Balasore administration on Monday declared a colony of Emami Paper Mills Ltd in the district as a micro-containment zone after 101 employees tested positive for COVID-19.
Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) informed that 101 of the 158 new COVID cases reported in the district in the last 24 hours are from the Emami Paper Mills.
Two employees of the paper mills had tested positive for the virus earlier.
Apprehending more such cases, the district administration has ordered the immediate closure of one of the three units of the plant.
Notably, Balasore, which reported 148 infections in the last 10 days, saw a jump in new cases with the detection of this cluster.
