Khurda: Eleven persons, including the kingpin, arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch two days ago on charges of illegal quarrying in Khurda district have been forwarded to the court.
Notably, the STF had found the complicity of Kailash Chandra Parija of Bomikhal in Bhubaneswar and other persons in illegal quarrying at Dangarpada under Begunia tehsil in Khurda district and registered a case against them.
On the basis of intelligence input, the STF team raided Jaleswar in Balasore district and arrested Parija on September 4 and forwarded him to the court the following day.
During interrogation, the STF came to know that the accused was operating illegal quarry on the land belonging to Jagannath Temple in Puri with other persons using explosives. Besides, he was also involved in similar activities at Tapang under Khurda tehsil.
During the investigation of these two cases, the STF has so far arrested 11 persons and forwarded them to the court.
