Jammu: Eleven persons were killed and more than 19 injured after a bus skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Saturday.
The bus, which was on its way to Poonch from Loran, fell into a deep gorge near a river at Plera. The driver of the bus apparently lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn, leading to the accident, sources said.
Rescue operations are underway. The bodies of those killed have been recovered, according to a report by News18.com. The injured have been admitted to a sub-district hospital at Mandi.
Five among the injured are critical and some of them have been airlifted to Jammu, according to a India Today report on the accident.
