Cuttack: A day after the MIL Odia question paper of the annual High School Certificate (HSC) went viral in Odisha, the School and Mass Education department on Saturday suspended 11 staff, including superintendents, invigilators and teachers.
Informing this to the media here in the afternoon, controller of examinations, Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Dr Nihar Ranjan Mohanty said of the 11 suspended staff, nine are centre superintendents and invigilators from Nuapada (5), Koraput (2) and Dhenkanal (2) districts.
Besides, the headmaster and a clerk of Balia Bapuji Nodal High School have been suspended for dereliction of duty, he added.
He further said that the District Education Officer (DEO), Dhenkanal, has lodged a complaint n Gondia police station against centre superintendent of Sudarshan Vidya Bhawan High School.
Mohanty also said that the Board has also expelled some students from the examinations for their complicity in the matter.
Stating that the prohibitory order under Section 144 has been clamped in some sensitive examination centres, he said the centre superintendents have been authorized to requisite additional police force from the district administration in case of exigency.
Meanwhile, five teachers of Nuapada district, who were detained by the Boden police on Friday in connection with the alleged question paper leak, were arrested and forwarded to the court on Saturday.
The arrested teachers are centre superintendent Prasanna Kumar Pati, and invigilators Bighnaraj Supakar and Mukund Sabara of Karangmal High School while the two others are the centre superintendent Sushil Kumar Joshi and invigilator Arjunajaya Panda of Gopinath High School at Litisargi.
Prior to the arrest, these five teachers were suspended on Friday.
