Balangir: At least 12 bombs were recovered by security personnel from a goods train wagon at Kantabanji Railway Station in Odisha’s Balangir district on Tuesday.
The bombs were found during a routine inspection by the security personnel. It is still unclear as to how the bombs reached the railway wagon.
Sources said the bombs were reportedly from the Ordnance Factory Badmal (OFBL) in Saintala which manufactures arms, ammunition, explosives and other armaments.
While a thorough investigation was launched to ascertain the nature of shipment which is conventionally moved under heavy security, the circumstances in which the bombs were found inside the wagon triggered major safety concerns.
Efforts are on to ascertain the source of the bombs as well as the entire sequence of events following its retrieval from the goods wagon. Further details are awaited.
