Baripada: At least 12 persons, mostly workers, were critically injured when a cement-laden truck carrying them overturned in Thakurmunda area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday evening.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place on Bhimkund-Kendujiani road under the jurisdiction of Thakurmunda police station when the truck carrying cement was on its way to Sarubil and Asanbani villages from Khandabandh.
The truck overturned as the driver lost control over the wheels while negotiating a sharp turn.
As many as eleven workers travelling in the truck and the driver of the vehicle were grievously injured in the mishap as they came under the truck. The inured were immediately rushed to
Thakurmunda hospital. The condition of at least four persons was stated to be critical. Four of the injured were later shifted to Ghasipura hospital as their condition deteriorated.
