12 Detained For Attack On BJP Corporator Candidate In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police, on Sunday, arrested 12 persons for their alleged involvement in the attack on family members of a BJP Corporator candidate in Bhubaneswar.

The BJP corporator candidate from Ward 33 Dharitri Jena, along with her family members were attacked by over 50 persons near Laxmisagar police station where they had gone to file an FIR in connection with the tearing of some posters. Jena’s rival BJD candidate’s husband was among the attackers, she stated in her complaint.

In the attack, Jena’s husband, brother-in-law, and three other family members were injured.

As per sources, the clash between both the groups ensued following a dispute over tearing of some posters. The BJP Corporator candidate’s family members were allegedly attacked when they had gone to lodge an FIR in connection with the tearing of posters.
