Kalahandi: A 12-foot python was found at a banana farm at Paika Pada in Jayapatna of Kalahandi district on Wednesday.
Locals spotted the python while it was swallowing a jackal, following which, they informed the snake helpline.
Getting information, snake helpline member Sarat Nayak reached the spot and rescued the python. The giant snake weighs about 50 kg.
Later, the python was handed over to the forest department.
Santosh Manik, a local, said, “This is the first time that we have seen such a big snake.”
