12-Hour Bandh Brings Life To Standstill In Dabugaon

Nabarangpur: A 12-hour bandh called by the locals of Dabugaon in
Nabarangpur district brought life to a standstill on Tuesday. The
strike was observed in protest against the posting of objectionable
remarks on a particular religion on social media.

While vehicular movement was badly affected, shops, markets and other
business establishments remained closed due to the strike. The
protestors staged road blockades and demonstrations at several places
to press for immediate fulfilment of their demands.

Security was beefed up to maintain law and order in the area.

“Though a complaint against a youth was lodged in connection with
the posting of the objectionable remarks on social media two days ago,
police are yet to act on it. We demand immediate action against the
youth as such an act could hurt the sentiments of many people”, an
agitator said.
