Balangir: The demand for a district status to Kantabanaj block in Odisha’s Balangir district was revived on Saturday with the Zilla Sangharsh Samiti observing a 12-hour bandh.
According to sources, the bandh affected the normal life as all shops, markets and business establishments downed shutters. Vehicular movement was also hit while banks, schools, colleges, offices remained closed.
While agitators staged demonstrations at Tureikela, Muribahal and Bangamunda block, several organisations and political leaders also extended support to the bandh.
Notably, various outfits have been pressing for a district status to Kantabanji town. A similar bandh was observed on November 24, 2022.
