Bhawanipatna: Normal life was disrupted in Odisha’s Kalahandi district following a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh call given by the CT-BEd Asayi Sangh demanding district-wise appointment of Siksha Sahayaks.
All trading establishments remained closed while vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt following the bandh call.
The agitators staged a road blockade on National Highway-26 by burning tyres.
Notably, the district School and Mass Education Department on Tuesday had verified the certificates of the candidates applying for the post of Primary Teachers. However, tension prevailed after the aspiring candidates of Kalahandi district found the candidates from other districts applying for the post.
Protesting this, they had demanded that appointment should be given on district-wise basis. But as the concerned authorities did not pay heed to their demands, the District CT-BEd Asayi Sangh had given the bandh call for fulfilment of its demand.
