Bhubaneswar: Amid abatement of chilly weather conditions under the influence of an approaching western disturbance, Odisha witnessed a slight rise in the night temperature during the last 24 hours.
According to Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, G Udayagiri was the coldest at 7 degree Celsius followed by Sundargarh at 8.6 degree Celsius, Kirei, also in Sundargarh, at 9 degree Celsius, Phulbani and Semiliguda in Koraput at 9.5 and 9.6 degree Celsius, respectively, Angul and Koraput at 10 degree Celsius each, Daringbadi, also in Koraput, 10.5 degree Celsius, Bargarh at 10.6 degree Celsius, Rourkela at 10.7 degree Celsius, Jharsuguda and Keonjhar at 10.8 degree Celsius each.
Most of these places recorded below normal temperature. Angul saw the mercury dropping 4.9 degrees below normal, followed by Koraput (-3.8), Sundargarh (-2.4) and Jharsuguda (-2.1).
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 14.5 and 15 degree Celsius, respectively, 0.3 and 1 degrees below normal.
Jharsuguda, Puri, Bhubaneswar, Bhawanipatna and Keonjhar also experienced shallow and moderate fog this morning.
Notably, the weather agency on Sunday had forecast a gradual rise in the night temperature by 2-3 degree Celsius after 24 hours with light rain from January 31.
