Rayagada: At least 12 students were injured, some of them critically, when a school bus carrying them after the Independence Day celebrations overturned in Padmapur area of Odisha’s Rayagada district on Tuesday.
The students of an English medium school located at Padmapur were returning home after the function when the bus overturned near a turn at Perupanga village. As a result, at least 12 students sustained injuries.
Locals rescued the students and rushed the injured to the community health centre (CHC) at Padmapur for treatment. The condition of some students was stated to be serious.
A team of police personnel visited the site and launched a probe into the accident. The driver of the bus was stated to have fled the scene after the accident and efforts are on to trace him. Further details are awaited.
