Puri: As many as 12 snakes were rescued from different places around Puri town on Wednesday.
The rescued snakes included 3 Monocled Cobra which were found in a private residence in Banamali Dhipa village under Satyabadi police limits. The house owner, Brajabandhu Mallik, spotted the snakes moving in his bedroom and informed the Snake Helpline.
Sangram Keshari, member of the Snake Helpline, went inside the bedroom which was closed by Brajabandhu to prevent the snakes from escaping. Sangram caught hold of the three Monocled Cobra and kept those in a bag.
Sangram said the snakes included two male and one female. All of them were more than 5.5 feet in length.
Similarly, 9 Cobra snakes were rescued from other parts of the town by the Snake Helpline. All the snakes were safely released in nearby forest areas.
