Bhubaneswar: Sonepur continued to be the hottest place in Odisha for second day recording a temperature of 43.2 degree Celsius on Sunday.
According to evening bulletin of regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), as many as 12 places recorded temperature of 4o degree Celsius or more in the state. Sonepur was followed by Angul with 43.1 degree Celsius.
The other places which recorded 40 degree Celsius or more are Baripada (40), Jharusuguda (42.9), Sambalpur (40.8), Hirakud (40.3), Bhawanipatna (40.6), Balangir (42.4), Titlagarh (40.5), Boudh (42), Chhatrapur (40) and Paralakhemundi (41).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack registered 38.6 and 38.1 degree Celsius respectively. Seaside town Gopalpur recorded the lowest temperature at 29.9 degree Celsius.
The IMD has forecast that no major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely during next 5 days in the state. Maximum temperature will be more than 40 degree Celsius at many places and is likely to be above
normal by 2 to 3 degree at a few places in interior Odisha during the period.
