Berhampur: In a tragic incident, a 12-year-old boy was charred to death after a fi
re broke out at a local shop in Sorada area of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Badal Muli of Gangapur village under Badagada Police limits. He was studying in Class 7.
Sources said Badal had come to his grandfather’s house to spend a few days during the summer vacation. He was at a tea stall at Dantalingi Square when the fire erupted. Badal was burnt alive as a gas cylinder at the shop exploded before he could move out.
After receiving information, fire service personnel from Sorada reached the spot and doused the fire. However, by then the boy had already been charred to death.
A team of Sorada police visited the spot and initiated an investigation into the incident.
