12-Year-Old ‘Stoned To Death’ By Friends Over Playing Mobile Phone Game In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A Class VII student was allegedly murdered by two of his friends following a tiff over playing ‘Free Fire’ on a mobile phone at Mastiput village under Town police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district.

According to police sources, the incident took place while the three boys were playing the game on a mobile phone near the village school on Thursday. An altercation broke out when the deceased, identified as  Lulu Bhoi (12), didn’t let them play the game. In a fit of rage, the duo thrashed him and later stoned him to death. They then threw the body near Kolab river.  The father of the 12-year-old boy identified the body this morning.

The accused have been detained by police. “A case was registered based on the FIR lodged by the deceased’s father. As the deceased belonged to ST category, relevant sections as per atrocity act have been registered,” said Additional SP, Utkal Keshari Das.
