Angul: In a tragic incident, 120 houses were gutted in a major fire mishap at Ambasaramunda village of Athamallik block in Angul district on Saturday.
According to sources, 50 families have been rendered homeless in the incident. Property worth lakhs turned into ashes in the mishap.
The fire mishap took place due to a gas cylinder explosion following a short circuit in the kitchen of Chabi Pradhan in the afternoon, sources added.
On being informed, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames, which took them six hours.
The local Sarpanch, Revenue Inspector and three other officers visited the village to observe the situation.
