Ujjain: At least 13 priests were injured after a fire broke out in the ‘garbhagriha’ of Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain on Monday.
According to reports, the incident took place when ‘Bhasma Aarti’ was being performed at the temple on the occasion of Holi.
The injured have been admitted to district hospital in Ujjain. “The fire broke out during Bhasma Aarti in the ‘garbhagriha’. Their medical treatment is underway,” District collector Neeraj Singh was quoted as saying.
Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav later told news agencies that that a major tragedy. “…A few priests have been injured and they have been admitted to hospitals in Indore and Ujjain. I am going there. It is all the blessing of god that it didn’t turn out in a major incident but whatever has happened, I have ordered a magisterial investigation and will ensure that these things won’t repeat. Action will be taken against those at fault.”
