Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Collegium has recommended names of 12 senior lawyers to the Supreme Court to fill up the vacant posts of the judges.
Against the sanctioned strength of 27 Judges, there are 14 Judges in the High Court including the newly appointed Chief Justice KS Jhaveri at present.
The High Court Collegium, comprising former Chief Justice Vineet Saran, Justice Indrajit Mohanty and Justice Sanju Panda, had recommended the names of 12 senior lawyers to the apex court for their appointment to the Orissa High Court.
It had recommended the name of eight senior lawyers, B Das, BP Pradhan, PK Harichandan, AK Das, V Narasingh, TK Satpathy, RP Kar and KP Mishra on May 10 and four district judges Gautam Sharma, BP Routray, SN Mishra and A Mishra on May 15.
This recommendation would be reviewed by the Supreme Court Collegium, comprising Chief Justice Dipak Mishra, Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Madan B Lokur, after which it will give the approval for their appointment, sources in the office of the High Court Registrar said.
