Puri: Police personnel’s vulnerability to coronavirus came to the fore on Saturday as 13 of them were sent to home quarantine after arresting a theft accused who tested positive for the virus in Brahmagiri of Puri district.
According to sources, one Anusaya Dalai had filed a complaint at the Satapada outpost under Brahmagiri police station on June 6 alleging burglary in her house. The police started investigation after registering a case.
One of the accused in the case was detained at Satapada police outpost and later taken to Brahmagiri police station for questioning. The police sent his swab for COVID-19 test and forwarded him to court on June 11.
As the theft accused tested positive for corona, the district police authorities directed the 13 police personnel to be in home quarantine.
