Angul: At least 13 Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) jawans were injured when a van, carrying them, crashed into a stationary truck on NH 55 near Mundasahi Chhak in Odisha’s Angul district in the early hours of Saturday.
According to sources, the accident took place at around 4:30 am when a group of 16 personnel from the 2nd SOG battalion was traveling from Jharsuguda to Chandaka in Bhubaneswar. Seven among them, five OSAP jawans, the driver and his assistant, were critically injured. While four of them have been referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, three others are under treatment at district headquarters hospital in Angul.
It is being suspected that accident took place as the driver lost control of the van. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the crash.
