14 arrested in excise raid at Bargarh

Bargarh: The excise sleuths here on Monday arrested 14 persons allegedly engaged in the business of making liquor.
In simultaneous raids conducted at Bargarh town, Barapali, Paikamala, Gaisilet, Atabira, Bheden and Sohela, the officials seized 100 litres of cooked liquor, 600 kg of fermented mahua locally known as ‘pocha’ and hundreds of foreign liquor bottles from those arrested.
The raids were carried out on the basis of a specific information, an excise official said.
In another incident, a person was arrested on charges of attempting robbery in a house at Mallick Sahi under Arei police limits in Jajpur district this afternoon. The owner of the house alerted
neighbours after noticing the man entering his room. The locals caught hold of the thief and handed him over to police.
