14 Detained For Thrashing Tenant In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police have detained 14 persons for allegedly severely thrashing a tenant at Nayapalli here on Tuesday night.

According to sources, Pranab Ray, owner of a construction company, was staying on rent in the house of Shubhranshu Biswal, son-in-law of former Brahmagiri MLA Lulu Mohapatra, at Nayapalli N-3 area where he had set up his office and spent over lakhs on interior designing.

After some years, Biswal had asked him to vacate the house. Instead of vacating the house, Ray had moved the court and obtained a stay.

Trouble started on Tuesday morning when Biswal asked Ray to vacate the house. When he refused, around 40-50 miscreants barged into his house in the evening and severely thrashed him. They also ransacked his office in presence of Biswal.

Following a complaint, Nayapalli police rushed to the spot and detained 14 of them.
