Paradip: Fourteen fishermen were stranded in the rough sea near Mahanadi river mouth in Odisha’s Pradip after two fishing boats, named Dharmashakhi-2 and Dharmashakhi-3, developed technical glitch on Thursday.
According to sources, Dharmashakhi-2 got stranded near the Nehru Bangla sea shore in Paradip due to a technical glitch. On receiving a distress call, Dharmashakhi-3 rushed to the spot but was caught in the rough sea conditions due to a low-pressure area over Bay of Bengal while attempting to tow the troubled boat back after the rope snapped and got entangled in the fan.
The efforts to safely rescue the fishermen and tow the boats to the shore by the Paradip Port authorities’ tugboats have been hampered due to the heavy rains and rough sea conditions, the sources added.
