Dhenkanal: A 14-foot-long king cobra was rescued from the roof of a house in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Thursday.
The king cobra was spotted on the asbestos roof of the house belonging to Kamala Dehury located at Dahimala Sabar Sahi under Kapilash forest range, according to sources.
After getting information, members of Banyak Foundation visited the village and rescued the king cobra. The poisonous snake, weighing around 8 kg, was later released into Kapilash sanctuary.
A member of the foundation said that the king cobra rescued from the house is an adult one. Dehury’s village Dahimala Sabar Sahi is located very close to Kapilash sanctuary. The huge poisonous snake might have entered the village in search of food, he said.
It may be noted here that king cobra is recognised as the longest poisonous snake in the world.
