14-Hour Nationwide Curfew On March 22, India To Cheer For Healthcare Providers: PM Modi

New Delhi: Amid the looming threat of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday declared a nationwide ‘Janata Curfew’ on Sunday (March 22).

The curfew will be implemented from 7 am to 9 pm on that day.

The PM asked every citizen to clap, bang plates to express solidarity with the healthcare providers, who have been incessantly fighting this invisible enemy despite being at the highest risk of transmission, at 5 pm on Sunday.

He also asked people not to crowd hospitals, and instead consult doctors over phone if possible.

He clarified that there will not be any shortage of essential commodities such as milk, medicines and groceries and urged citizens not to give into hoarding.
