14 Lakh Cases In Courts Across Odisha Under Process Of Digitisation

Bhubaneswar: The folders of 14 lakh cases in different courts of Odisha are under the process of digitisation as a pioneering step in the country.

This was stated by chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra while addressing the Judicial Service probationers in their one-day exposure session with State Lokseba Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. “With digitisation of the case records and IT application in courts, the process of prosecution would be expedited and made easier. Besides, massive infrastructural development was being done in the courts across the state,” he said.

“The ultimate objective of democratic form of governance is to enhance satisfaction level of the people by catering to their legitimate needs as resolved by the legislation. All four pillars of democracy have to uphold the constitutional values. This is materialised through quick and accurate delivery of services in the most transparent manner,” Mahapatra said.

Principal secretary, General Administration and Public Grievance, Surendra Kumar spoke on executive procedures involved in execution of welfare measures, policing, grievance redressal, IT application and good governance. He also highlighted the utilities of IT intervention, maintenance of integrity, ideals of equitability, inquisitiveness and independence from external influences in service delivery.

The exposure session was organised in three sittings. Principal secretary, Panchyati Raj and Drinking Water Ashok Kumar Meena; secretary, Law Pratap Kumar Patra; additional secretary, Law Pranaya Kumar Das; OSD to chief secretary Dillip Routray; Police Commissioner Saumendra Kumar Priyadarshi, Director, State Budget and Executive Director, CMGI Dr Satyapriya Ratha and general manager, OCAC Madhumita Ratha also spoke on various subjects.

Additional secretary, General Administration and Public Grievance Debabrata Mallik, Sibanarayan Sahu, Sagarika Hota with Nibedita Pathak of Service Conditions coordinated the programme.
