Jajpur: A 14-year-old boy was arrested by police for allegedly killing a 17-year-old girl at Korei area in Jajpur district recently.
According to police sources, the accused allegedly strangulated the girl to death with a dupatta and then dumped her body in a pond on June 18 after he noticed the victim talking to a youth of the same village on her mobile phone.
The matter came to light when police started investigation after recovering the girl’s body and detained the accused this morning. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime.
Though the exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, the police have detained the minor boy and cited a love affair as the possible reason for the attack.
