Baripada: A 14-year-old boy died after the wall of a house collapsed on him at a village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district following incessant rain.
The incident has been reported from Anua village under the Gholamunha Panchayat of Morada block of the district. The boy has been identified as Bhuja Marndi, son of Maisa Marndi.
According to sources, Bhuja was playing with his friends when the wall of his neighbor’s fragile house caved on him.
It is alleged that incessant rain for the last few days in Morada area might have caused the mud and brick wall to cave in.
Bhuja was immediately rescued by the locals and rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kishantandi. He was taken in to the CHC in a critical state and his condition further deteriorated, hence he was shifted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital located at Baripada. However, the doctors at Baripada declared him ‘brought dead’.
Upon being informed of the incident, Morada police reached the hospital and sent the mortal remains of the boy for post-mortem. A case has been registered and further investigation is going on.
