Bhubaneswar: Sarthak Arya brought glory to India and Odisha by clinching a double crown at the WTT Youth Contender meet in Algeria.
The 14-year-old Sarthak, from Gunthilo village in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, lifted the in under-15 boys’ singles title with stellar performances to overcome formidable opponents Kim Seongwon from Korea 3-1 and Uzbekistan’s Temurbek Nurmonov 3-0.
Sarthak also teamed up with Riana to claim the mixed doubles crown. They beat top pairs from Korea, Hong Kong and China en route to the title.
Sarthak and Riana earlier bagged silver medal by finishing runners-up in Tunisia.
Sarthak, who has been No. 1 in the country in different age groups for the last three years, will next represent India at the WTT Star Contender meet commencing in Singapore from March 13.
He will also gun for glory in the Asian Youth Championship, scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka from May 26.
