143-Year-Old Newspaper The Tribune Gets Its First Woman Editor

New Delhi: Senior journalist Jyoti Malhotra has become the first woman to be appointed Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune, the 143-year-old newspaper based in Chandigarh.

The Tribune Trust, board of directors of the newspaper, took the decision to name Malhotra as successor to Rajesh Ramachandran, who leaves office after a six-year stint.

Malhotra, who will assume charge on May 14, has vast experience across print, TV and digital media.

She has held senior editorial positions in leading news organisations like India Today, The Indian Express, The Print and Star News, besides being a regular contributor to BBC Radio.

She writes widely on the intersection between politics, diplomacy and culture across the Indian subcontinent with special focus on Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In her decades-long long career, Malhotra has covered politics, national affairs and foreign affairs, with special focus on Pakistan and Afghanistan.
