Bhadrak: Over 15 pilgrims from West Bengal were injured, some of them critically, after a bus in which they were travelling to Puri hit a truck in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Saturday.
The mishap took place near Juragadia on National Highway No, 16 in Bhadrak district when the bus with around 65 tourists from Kolkata dashed against the stationary truck from the rear in the wee hours, sources said.
Locals rescued the injured passengers and informed the police and fire services personnel who rushed to the spot. The injured were admitted to district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Bhadrak where the condition of some devotees was stated to be critical.
The pilgrims were on their way to Puri to visit Shree Jagannath Temple and pay obeisance to the sibling deities. They were also slated to visit other shrines in the pilgrim town, soruces added.
