Bhubaneswar: Maharashtra, currently has the highest number of cases in India with over 40,000 plus active cases. With the threatening Omicron variant affecting Mumbai rampantly, a third wave seems to be emerging much sooner.
Many celebrities from Bollywood and television have also contracted the virus in the past two weeks.
1. Sharad Malhotra
After the actor tested positive for COVID-19, the makers of his show have issued an official statement regarding the same on January 5.
2. Sonu Nigam
On January 5, singer Sonu Nigam, who is currently in Dubai with his family, announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19, along with his wife, son and sister-in-law.
3. Erica Fernandes
On January 5, actress Erica Fernandes tested positive for COVID-19 along with her mother, she informed on social media. She also advised fans to not rely on home testing kits( Coviself) as they showed negative results thrice, even though she had severe symptoms.
4. Drashti Dhami
On January 4, television actress Drashti Dhami notified her fans on Instagram that she has tested positive for the virus and is under quarantine.
5. Sumona Chakravarti
On January 4, the actress posted an Instagram story informing everyone of her moderate symptoms and quarantining herself at home. She also requested anyone who got in contact with her to get tested.
6. Prem Chopra
Veteran actor Prem Chopra and his wife Uma were admitted to Lilavati hospital on January 3 after testing positive for COVID-19.
7. John Abraham
Actor John Abraham took to Instagram stories on January 3, announcing that he and his wife Priya Runchal have tested positive for the virus.
8. Ekta Kapoor
On January 3, Ekta Kapoor announced on Instagram that despite being careful, she got the virus and urged everyone who came in contact with her recently to get tested as well.
9. Nakuul Mehta
Actor Nakuul Mehta shared with his fans on Instagram that he has been infected with the virus. Later on January 3, his wife and 11-month-old son Sufi also tested positive, shared the actor in a heart-wrenching post. His wife later shared that their son was admitted to the ICU.
10. Mrunal Thakur
On January 1, actress Mrunal Thakur posted on Instagram story about having mild symptoms and home quarantining herself. She was recently seen promoting her upcoming film ‘Jersey’ in Bigg Boss 15 and Kapil Sharma show.
11. Vishwank Sen:
Telugu actor Vishwank Sen has also tested positive for COVID-19. The ‘Falaknuma Das’ star announced the news on social media on December 31, 2021.
12. Arjun Kapoor
Actor Arjun Kapoor tested positive for COVID-19 on December 29 again, after battling the virus in September 2020. The actor’s building was sealed by BMC. The actor confirmed this while sharing his quarantine activities on Instagram.
13 Anshula Kapoor
A day later Arjun Kapoor’s sister also tested positive for COVID. Four of her cousins, including Mohit Marwah and his wife have also contracted the infection.
14. Rhea Kapoor and Karan Boolani
On December 29, producer and Anil Kapoor’s daughter Rhea Kapoor and her husband, director Karan Boolani, also tested positive after hosting a Christmas party at their house. They claimed everyone was tested, which triggered online trolls.
15. Nora Fatehi
On December 28, actress Nora Fatehi tested positive for COVID-19. Her publicist issued a statement to inform her fans.
