Rayagada: The Government Railway Police (GRP) rescued 15 children from Rayagada railway station on Saturday night.
The children, including 11 girls from Kanchamuhi village in the district, were allegedly being trafficked to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh for engagement in a prawn processing unit.
On receiving information regarding the alleged trafficking, police and railway officials raided the station and managed to rescue the children.
The victims were later handed over to the Childline officials. Efforts are on to contact their family members and nab the persons involved in trafficking of children to neighbouring state to engage them in brick kiln, hotels and other menial work, a railway official said.
