Fifteen people died in Pune after a portion of the wall of a residential building collapsed early on Saturday morning following heavy rain. Four children and a woman are among the dead.
Visuals showed several cars stuck in the debris in Pune’s Kondhwa area. A report on NDTV said the wall crashed onto tin sheds next to the apartment complex, taking down the parked cars as the ground caved in.
The sheds were built for labourers working at a nearby construction site, the police said.
Rescue personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the fire department are at the site, looking for people who might be stuck. The wall collapsed around 1.45am, an official said. The injured have been taken to a nearby hospital.
