Rourkela: At least 15 devotees were injured after a heap of stones fell on them following a landslide in Jatia Baba hill in Kandarkela area under Hatibari police limits on the outskirts of Rourkela in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Friday.
According to reports, the devotees were on their way to the Shiv Temple on the hill for darshan on the occasion of Shivratri when a heap of stones suddenly gave way. As a result, 15 devotees were injured.
Following information, a team of Hatibari police, accompanied by a Fire Brigade and six ambulances rushed to the spot and rescued all the injured devotees and admitted them to the Rourkela Government Hospital where the condition of 10 devotees is stated to be critical.
Of the 15 injured persons two are children, three minor girls and the rest are women.
Reports also said that some devotees are still trapped under the stones.
Some locals said that there was rainfall in the area last night.
