Rayagada: As many as 15 people were feared dead and over 100 injured in the train accident near Palasa in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday evening.
The accident took place when Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger train was coming to Rayagada in Odisha . The train jumped the tracks near Alamanda railway station under Palasa tehsil in Vijaynagaram district.
Some compartments of the train were derailed and were standing outside the tracks. The compartments were severely damaged due to the mishap.
Railway officials have rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of the locals and some voluntary organisations, the sources said.
