15 Injured As Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Bus Collides With Truck In Sundargarh

Sundargarh: At least 15 people were injured, 10 of them critically, when a truck collided with a passenger bus in Tikayatpalli area of Odisha’s Sundargarh district early on Wednesday.

The bus with over 30 passengers on board was proceeding towards Rourkela from Bhubaneswar when the mishap took place near Khaman under the jurisdiction of Tikayatpalli police station in the wee hours.

Sources said all the injured passengers were rushed to Bonai hospital for treatment. Ten of them with grievous injuries were later shifted to a hospital in Rourkela. Their condition was stated to be critical

Some passengers of the alleged that accident took place after the truck deviated from its lane. The collision occurred as the truck suddenly moved towards the bus, they claimed.

While the exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the driver of the truck might have dozed off.

A police team rushed to the site after being informed about the accident. Further details are awaited.
