Bhubaneswar: On the last day of the 30th National Road Safety Week during which Odisha State Road Safety Action Plan was unveiled to curb the rising fatalities, separate road accidents in the state claimed 15 lives while 29 were left with serious injuries on Monday.
Four persons died and 11 were injured when a pick-up van overturned near Pangam under Mathili police limits in Malkangiri district. Besides, a youth died after his bike hit a roadside tree near MV-38 village in the district.
In Rourkela, two women died on the spot after a speeding lorry hit their scooter at TCI Chhak in the afternoon.
In Balasore district, a truck driver was killed and two truck drivers were injured in a series track crash near Bhagia Chhak near Soro town in the early morning hours.
In Mayurbhanj district, a man was killed after a motorcycle hit him near Purunapani Chhak under Khunta police limits in Udala block.
In Khurda district, one person was killed after a car rammed the motorcycle he was riding near Subudhipatna Chhak in Balugan town in the afternoon.
In Boudh district, one person died and three others were injured when an SUV overturned near Manmunda in the afternoon.
In Balangir district, one person was killed and 10 others seriously injured when a mini truck overturned at Kirimira in Titlagarh block in the morning.
In Angul district, a cyclist was run over by a speeding car near Khamar in Pallahara block late in the afternoon.
In Bargarh district, one person died and three others were seriously injured in an accident near Malada under Paikamal police limits in Padmapur block.
In Keonjhar district, a man died after being run over by a speeding train near Basnapani railway station in the afternoon.
