15 Killed, Nine Injured Due To Lightning In Odisha

Balasore/Khurda/Nuapada/Subarnapur/Baripada: Fifteen persons were killed and as many sustained injuries in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Odisha on Friday.

The first incident was reported from Balasore district, where two persons died after being struck by lightning at Barunagadia under Basta block in Balasore district. The duo was working in an agricultural field when the mishap took place.

Similarly, five persons including an elderly woman died in due to lightning at Singakhunta, Sikharpur, Narayanpur and Raibania villages. Five persons suffered injuries in the mishap.

In Mayurbhanj, two persons were killed in similar incidents of lightning at Maheswarpur and Sonahajara villages.

Besides, a woman and a youth died when lightning struck at Badasala village under Baisinga police limits and Chunadiha village under Udala police limits in the district.

Apart from these, lightning claimed the life of a youth and injured two others at Manikapur in Khurda district.
