Bhubaneswar: The mercury soared to 40 degree Celsius or above at 15 places across Odisha on Monday.
Titlagarh was the hottest at 42.2 degree Celsius, followed by Baripada (42 degree Celsius), Balangir (41.5 degree Celsius), Jharsuguda and Sambalpur (41.2 degree Celsius each), Angul and Hirakud (41.1 degree Celsius each), Malkangiri (41 degree Celsius), Bhawanipatna (40.8 degree Celsius), Bhubaneswar (40.5 degree Celsius), Nayagarh (40.3 degree Celsius), Talcher (40.2 degree Celsius each) and Boudh, Balasore and Cuttack (40 degree Celsius each).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a likely rise in temperature by two to three degree during the next two days.
It has also predicted heatwave at some places in the state for the next three days.
